How the UK’s inefficient electricity cables are holding back the EV revolution

Enertechnos CEO pens new article for Power Engineering International

Enertechnos CEO, Dominic Quennell, has today published an article explaining that while there is much talk about electricity generation on one end and charge points on the other, the expected surge in the uptake of electric vehicles (EVs) is at risk from the cables that actually transfer electricity from the generation source to the charge points.

The article draws attention to the fact that a staggering 83% of the additional energy demand EVs will place on the UK energy system is currently lost through leakage in our transmission and distribution network, and recommends that all areas of the energy system, including transmission and distribution cables, are assessed if we are to meet the challenges posed in a sustainable and affordable way.
